Janie and John's engagement photos at The Red Berry Estate in San Antonio, Texas were elegant, playful, and absolutely timeless. The Red Berry was the perfect location for the kind of session they were envisioning, from its dark and moody light to the fun, modern prints throughout the estate.
I started the session with a bit of guidance, and they quickly trusted my direction, which allowed everything to flow effortlessly. That trust gave them the confidence to settle into the moment naturally, and it allowed me to capture those beautiful candid shots that couples so often end up printing and displaying in their home. Those moments are also perfect for black-and-white editing. It strips away distraction, softens the patterns, and lets you truly feel the image and the connection they share.
Later, we moved down to the basement, where the casino, bar, and gorgeous elevator are tucked away, and the session took on a playful yet elegant energy. I used direct flash lighting here to give the photos a more editorial, fun feel while highlighting the golden accents of the elevator, the roulette wheel in the casino area, and the champagne glasses at the bar.
This is exactly why engagement photos are such an important part of your wedding experience. They give you the chance to be in front of the camera before your wedding day, get to know your photographer, and experience what it feels like to work together. More than anything, it helps you build that connection and confidence so you know you've found the right fit for your day.
